About Us!
Castaway Kids Mexico, AC is a wonderful group of volunteers willing to lend a hand, so that others less fortunate can better their own lives. From providing school scholarships to needy kids, to hosting recreational activities for children from the poorest sections of town, to providing food, clothing and shelter to families in emergency situations…Castaway Kids volunteers are an
active bunch!
Made up mainly of Americans, Mexicans and Canadians residing south of the border in the Mexican state of Sonora, the group is supported by contributions through our U.S. branch, Castaway Kids Inc. , a non-profit 501- C3 corporation based in Arizona and founded in 2006. (Click for legal info)
Our efforts are largely focused in the poorest neighborhoods of Guaymas, Sonora, about 25 minutes from where group founder and local entertainer Mark Mulligan resides. Visitors to Guaymas are welcome to visit the various projects sponsored by Castaway Kids, such as our children’s park in the Fatima neighborhood, the “Meson de Jesus” soup kitchen (which feeds nearly 500 hungry people daily), or a new community center that the group helped to build in the Las Playitas neighborhood. Visitors can also attend many of our group activities, like our recent Christmas parties for kids, mentoring sessions
with our scholarship recipients, or events like our recent trip to Hermosillo, taking 50 kids to major league baseball exhibition game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and a team of Mexican all-stars!
We’d love to have you on board, either as a volunteer or as a donor to the project. To find out how you can help, just click HOW CAN I HELP?
